Job Title: Turbine Installation Manager

Location: Montreal, Canada

Supervisor: Director, Construction

Description: Supervise wind turbines delivery and installation. Support the project team on site.

Montreal office based until work on site starts in spring 2011.

Responsibilities:

  1. Inspect all materials and equipment supplied by subcontractor to ensure they meet project design and industry standards.
  2. Inspect all turbine installations to ensure that the project design requirements are respected.
  3. Supervise turbine installations to ensure lifts are performed safely.
  4. Inspect and observe all turbine installations to ensure that proper installation is performed according to project design and conforms to industry standard work practices.
  5. Prepare lift schedules and coordinate crane usage.
  6. Write/review lift plans and lift procedures.
  7. Ensure SAFETY requirements are met.
  8. Ensure Quality and Environmental procedures are respected.
  9. Ensure contract requirements are respected.
  10. Accomplish any other job-related duties/functions requested by the supervisor.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum 5 yrs of experience supervising and inspecting work performed by subcontractors on large industrial, mechanical or construction projects involving heavy lifting of equipment.
  2. Minimum 1-3 years wind turbine installation experience is required.
  3. Needs expertise and the necessary skills to interface with subcontractors and communicate in French and English.
  4. Ability to climb towers that range from 60-100 meters.
  5. Ability to climb towers 3 times per regular work day, but up to 5 times a day as needed.
  6. Ability to work outside on a daily basis in adverse weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, ranging from -30 to +40 degrees Celsius.
  7. Ability to travel, living at worksite for approximately 9 months, returning to an office location between projects.
  8. Skilled in MSOffice and Outlook. Education: Mechanical or Electrical Technical Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
